Wheel Bearing

Just wondering if the wheel could fall off it the wheel bearing is shot??? All i have to do is load it on the trailer and unload it. I dont want to get it half on the trailer and have it fall off. Also is there a good place to pick up a set of wheel bearings??

Thanks Devin

I found them for my 98 in the back of diesel power magine. It was the ad for JT's differential. They were $275 plus shipping apiece. This was cheaper than anywhere else I could find. I also read on here somewhere that at RockAuto.com had them for $175 but i don't know that for sure. Tim

But what's the quality of a product that cheap. I mean you get what you pay for now a days. NAPA sells them and they are a quality product for a good price.

Rockauto.com sells the Timken sets. Very cheap.

I can't find it anywhere on there website.

I'll give you my hub/bearing assembly from my 99. I replaced it thinking it was bad but it was actually the control arm bushings. Just pay for shipping which I think is about $30 because it's heavy. Tired of triping over it in the garage.

scottsjeeprolet 03-10-2008 08:30 AM

That's because you needed to click on Axel bearing hub assy, not wheel bearing.

I found them on there now. Thanks.

Devin_01 03-11-2008 01:14 AM

well i found out that the wheel can fall off. by the time it was on the trailer the only thing holding the wheel on was the brake caliper. the wheel was at a 45 degree angle. I have never seen a wheel bearing all of a sudden pile up that fast to the point of not being able to limp the truck some were. I had to fix the truck right on the trailer cause it wasnt coming off the trailer without anymore damage. It wasnt to bad it was nice and warm over here for a change and was able to get it done. What has everone else been getting for mileage out of there wheel bearings?????

Thanks Devin

Valv 03-11-2008 06:46 AM

I was going to reply the wheel will fall off.
It happened to me at 75mph on a passing lane in North Dakota.....

Same issue the brake caliper held the wheel in position while truck was "roaming" the median, and I was filling my pants.
