What's it worth? '95 Dually 4x4

Not on the 2nd Gen forums much, but going to take a look at a '95 reg cab 3500 4x4 Dually, auto. just under 200k mi, looks clean, interior good, no rust.
Trans won't go into OD, so obviously plan for the worst and hope for the best (TPS, trans temp switch, etc).
That aside, lets assume a clean good running truck. I can decide what to deduct for the problems I find, assuming decent maintenance, no immediate issues?
If it was an ext cab I'd be more inclined as they're more popular but interested in what a reg cab is worth. Don't see alot of RC duallys for sale.
Thanks

Sounds like a nice truck, 17 years old, 12v with P-pump, 4WD, 1-ton......$6500-$9000 depending on how well taken care of it actually was.

Consider a good trans rebuild can go for $2500-$4500....

In my area not nearly that high. (even if I think it should be) A truck with a hurt trans.....like you described probably wouldnt get 4k here. I ve had numerous chances to buy trucks in the last 2 years for less. I did see a very nice 98 4x4 short bed.....it was 11k....and I hope it sold. It had lots of mods, wheels tires, suspension..
I have been tempted to buy a couple early 2nd gen trucks now...cause they were so low cost at around 2k.
Remember that my area is pretty hard hit via economy. Lots of product, not a lot of cash.

Pretty good area here, economy wise and alot of trucks.
If the trans is original then even if it's one of the easy fixes, that trans is near the end of it's useful life.
Has the typical peeling paint issue but not too bad, yet. Just the tailgate and one cab corner but no cheap way to permanently fix that other than blasting the truck down to bare metal before a repaint.
My guess was that it's worth $7k IF it has a good trans and paint. I'd say $8-9k if it was an ext cab. Single cab reduces the marketability of it.
Oh well, guy hasn't called me back yet, but I'm thinking $3k is all I'd pay knowing the cost of a new trans and blast/paint.
Thanks for the help.

$4500 tops with a bad transmission. And it'd have to be NICE for $4500.

I have noticed a lot of 2nd gens around here for sale lately, and I always liked a reg cab duallie 4X4. I think they can get more for them here on the west coast.

I am also thinkin my estimate was kinda high, but I am picky about used stuff....

Just picked up a 94 standard cab dually 2x4 with really bad paint peel, 300,000 miles, and a fresh tranny 4000 miles ago for $3500. Felt fortunate to get it at that price. Around here in So Cal Diego early 1st generations typically don't go for less than $4000.00. Heck ya can part them out and make that back easily.

That's the reason I bought my reg cab dually....You just don't see them around much...

Theres one thing...Is mechanics could be be fixed at a fair price....When you start getting into a vehicle that has rust...That's where it gets very expensive unless you could do your own body work..

I think if you get this rust free truck for $4K to $4,500 and think that's a good deal...

Noticed that 1st gen dodge diesels are not driven into the ground like they use to be...Guys are picking them up and doing a whole restoration on them.

Single cab reduces the marketability of it.
But the regular cab has the advantage of the one piece driveshaft.
Eliminates all the carrier bearing problems associated with the longer truck's two piece units.

Double checked and the drive shaft out of the tranny is about as long as a Transfer case. Bet they just eliminate the front one for the 4x4's.

I see a bunch of 1st genners around here that are pretty beat and a few really nice ones kept dolled up.

Those 1st Gen CC Long beds that are taken care of are really good looking trucks in my opinion, and usually never for sale!

There's an oldster driving a near new silver 3500 Reg cab 4x4 with a 6 speed in it around here. I see it at the grocery store once in a while.
I'd like to talk to him about it, he must have ordered it 'cause you just don't see them in 4x4 very often.

Nice for a work truck!

You're going to spend around $4000 for a proper trans and that should be factored in. I would go to KBB.com and get the private party resale value and subtract $4000
