what tires for dually?
 

this is my first dually truck so i ned some help with tire selection. its a 95 3500 dually 4x4 that is stock so far besides exhaust. i want an all terrain or mud terrain tire that will go on the factory 16 rims i wont be towing anything that heavy so i dont know if i need a E or D rated tire? and i have heard i need spacers and all kinds of stuff. any info/pics will be appreciated

I run the Goodyear SilentArmor. It has good offroad traction, a low drag, is smooth and fairly quiet. Goodyear has a get stuck we tow warrenty,which ive never used or tried and a 50,000 mile warrenty and its a load range E.

i ran michelin xps on my dually's when i had one with 16 tires. i would get 60k out of them towing heavy and very rarely had to use the 4x4 because of the traction. they arent cheap tho, but i went from buying tires twice a year to only about once a year. also if you cant afford all 6 at once . put the newest ones on the front and when you can replace them move them to the rear. make sure if possible that you try to replace the rears by sets. if you put an older tire next to a new one the new one will wear out faster till it matches its partner

I'm running Toyo A/T 235 85/r16's and they have been great so far. The Dually's are heavy trucks, make sure you get e-rated...

i like the BF Goodrich commercial series i have used them for years and havent had a single failure yet. my steers have the Commercial TA and my drives have the Commercial Traction TA's

Can I Run A D Rated Tire Though? I Dont Tow That Heavy Just Toys And I Really Like The Nitto Terra Grapplers I Was Thinkin 315/75/16. I Know I Have To Get Spacers

FWIW, your truck came factory with D rated tires.

Go 235 there about as wide as you can go.(with out spacers)

You cant have it all the narrower the better mileage sorry

See I Dont Believe That I Run Mostly Highway So 70-75 Mph At 2000 Rpm. Now So If I Get A Little Bigger Tire Then I Will Lower My Rpm At Highway Speeds Which Will Help With Fuel Consumption Correct?

Yes and no..you said wider too..and taller will in theory drop your RPM a fudge.
To add to that you also have to consider unsprung weight that the eng. has to turn B4 it moves the truck and for ever more after word.
A 'fatter" tire will usually coast ya more fuel

I had a dually once and I did the spacer thing and wished I never did. It makes it a pain to change the inner tire. While it did look cool, I ran a 285/75, in the end it was more trouble than it was worth. Also the spacer kit I used required you to drill your outter rims out, meaning you could not just take off the spacers and go back to stock without replacing the outter rims. You might be able to run a 255/75 without spacers.

the wides you can run with out spacers is 265/75/16 thats what i run right now, they are d rated but i cant load up heavy due to how close the tires are
