think I will make something to put in front of radiator just, so what is used by most on winter trips?

I use the cardboard looking plastic stuff. I have been using the same two pieces for the last 2 years, and it they still look the same as the first time I put them in ( I slide them in between my aftercooler and radiator), no meting problems and they dont fall apart like cardcoard does when it gets soaked.

Copenhagenjunkie, how hard is it to get those snaps in the right place and due you use the bug screen also?

The main things I see it used for is politition signs durring election times, I think home depot anf lowes have For Sale and For Rent signs made out of the stuff too. If you do a google image search for "corrugated plastic" you wil see what I'm talking about.

I use a piece of 1/2" foam insulation board.
its was about $10 for a 4x8 sheet.

I cut and formed a piece of aluminum, drilled 3 3" holes in it and bolted it on. It sits 1-2 inches away from the intercooler so it isn't completely starved.
Painted black, no one sees it.

i just use oil. works really well in the summer time

why use anything? the thermostat works good enough for any trip you can make in the US,at least it has for me in the past.........coast to coast and border to border

It's not to bad with an extra hand. Attach all snaps then start in the middle and do 1 at a time, pull and stick.

I use the screen in the summer, works good.

thanks for the input I got a some plastic stuff from lows will try it next weak going on trip, last time when I went it was 45F to 50F on the way there 600 mile got 16.5 mile to gallon it was 34F to 16F on way back got 13 mile to gallon and I did not have good hot air coming out of heater look at temp gauge it was abut 150 it usually runs abut 175 to 180. I thought would try winter front or block off some air flow to see if it helps? will let you know how it works when I get back after first of year.

Works for me too but people who never load their trucks and use them for a ten mile commute have a real problem.
If it was me in this situation I'd buy a sedan instead of daily driving a truck that was designed to work.

I run a piece of that plastic stuff with a hole cut out for the fan clutch in between the radiator and intercooler.
It gets the temp up a little faster for defrosting and heat. So far I haven't reached 190 on the guage, and that's where it usually runs the rest of the year.

I use a piece of vinyl siding. It blocks about the top half of the radiator, The plastic doesn't hurt the aluminum of the radiator and the bottom the the piece is molded with a little hook for connecting the sideing together on your house, It clips very neatly to the top of the radiator between the intercooler and the radiator.
