Question Water in Cab on Passenger side

[/B]I have an 01 Quad 2500 with only 54k miles. Today I noticed it is leaking water on the passenger side from under the glove box and out of the air duct on the hump of the floor. Anybody know where the water is comming from and how to fix.

Thanks
Jbham

Put a length of hose on the drain sticking out of the firewall. Make sure the drain is not plugged. Water gets blown back into the drain or seep around it. The drain is behind the airfilter and sticks out of the firewall about 2"

You can run your AC while the truck is parked in a known dry spot and in a min. or 2 know if the drain is working properly, 'cause you'll see the puddle.

Could be the AC drain also. Trust me I had to dry the entire interior of mine twice be removing it! If it is indeed a clogged drain you will need to
1. remove the cown cover and remove all the pine needles and leaves that you can reach.
2. Drop the heater fan from the bottom and clean that out. These two will make it function much better and give the moisture less of a place to build up.
3. Carefully stick a rod of some sort into the drain hole and make sure that it isnt full of crud. Also it is a good time to replace the drain hose if it is missing.
4. Piggy backing on the drain hose. If it is missing the water can get blown back on the gasket that seals the airbox to the cab on the inside. This gasket will act as a sponge as it gets older! Mine leaked so bad that I filled the floorboard up under a husky liner so bad that water rolled out the door after a long drive. I ended up fixing this with silicone caulk.
Good luck.

To find out if the drain is plugged - stick a wire in it. You can also suck it out with a vacuum cleaner.

yep the drain was clogged. I put a coat hanger in about 2 inches and it seemed like a half gallon or so drained.

Thanks Guys I appreciate it.

Good deal Barry. Now put about 12" hose on the drain and take that carpet out to dry. I think a 5/8 ID heater hose works.

Mine is doing the exact same thing. Started to smell a musty odor pulled up the husky liner and the carpet and it was really wet underneath.I am going to look at this same method.

I just want to clarify here, if you have a water leak, smell the water. This will instantly tell you if you have a plugged drain or a leaking heater core.

Heater core leak will smell like anti freeze, and most likely fog up the windows.

A plugged drain will just smell musty, and there will not be a puddle on the ground while running the A/C, since it is draining into the cab.

Glad to here you got it going again Barry.
