Turn signals and hazards

So on accident I managed to ground a hot wire on the stock trailer, now the pickup has no turn signals or hazard. All the known fuses I've checked and none are popped,I just purchased a new flasher rely and it still don't work. When they stopped working I heard a snap so I know something tripped but what? Or do I get to buy a new multi function switch now?? Every thing else still works like nothing ever happened....

Its got to be the fuse, if you didn't short the wires in the trailer plug. It may have blown again the instant you installed it if the plug is bad....

Mine were all corroded and nasty when I blew mine. Check the 15 amp fuse in the panel on the side of the dash that runs the dash and see if that one blew too. Do you still have dash lights?

Do the relays "click" when you have your signal or hazards on??

You checked the Maxi fuse under the hood? Blew two on the new hydrabed before we looked under it and found they wired EVERYTHING with scotch-locks.

Yes, those are the maxi fuses, the big square ones. The first one I replaced, looked OK, but when I took it out, the filament inside it was wiggling. It had blown, just not where it could be seen. I'd at least swap it with another non-essential one to check.

Would the 15amp dash fuse still be tripped even though the dash and every thing else still work? I am going to move the trailer maxi fuse in to the hazard one under the hood and I guess pull every fuse till I find the one.

So here is what I found once I got day light. On the pickup side the maxi fuse was defiantly blown had to crack it to see it,and the 10 amp fuse in the dash was burn, and so was the flasher. On the trailer side they seemed to have had the right turn signals wire on the black positive 12 volt spot so there was allot of voltage running through there and they had the ground wire on the left turn signal. I moved the ground back to the white spot on the plug and moved the right turn signals off the positive 12 volt spade back to were they belong as well as moving the left turn signals.... I swear to god some peoples wiring abilities is less than cool,I hate barrowing trailers every time you plug it in to your truck there is the chance for STDS

Other people's electrical problems suck.

Sweet. Sounds like you found it!

We had one guy that was allowed to do anything wiring involved on the race trucks. If you touched anything electrical, he put it all back. Period. Rarely, if ever, had an electrical issue that he could not locate immediately. Total Guru.

Nuff said, now get back to work, Cowboy!!

I had the same problem with my truck when I bought it...Someone hacked the wires so bad that I it took me two days to fix...I was lucky...The damage was from the cab back .

ran into that before too Dave.

97 long cab 3500. Had more that its share of electrical problems with the trailer wiring. Took the plug apart, corroded to death. Changed it, still had more problems. Came to find out that the truck took a love tap side on from a car. Looked at the wiring outside the frame rail, just behind the cab, PO did a Horrible job of repairing it. Repaired it properly, all is well.
