trailer lights

Had a short in a trailer light....all the trailer lights went out. Checked every fuse on the truck, even the ones that have nothing to do with lights. The 40A trailer fuse is good, as is the trailer relay. There is power on one side of the 40A fuse, and power on two contacts of the trailer relay. There is no power at the rear of the truck, although it seems there should be. What did I miss?

had simular problem on mine and after about a year of looking and not very hard. but there was part of thewire harness rubbing on the end of the driver side top shock bolt. wrapped the harness with e tape and put a piece of rubber tubing on the end of the bolt and done. towed all summer and not one problem. just a thought.

There should be power on both sides of the fuse if it is good.

I was unclear when I posted that.......the power was on one contact in the box where the fuse plugs in. The fuse is good.

Start at the back of the truck.

Open up the connector, it may have gotten wet and corroded, this was my problem.

If good trace the wiring up to the front of the truck to the fuse block. You may have a shorted wire.

The factory uses the least amount of wire on these trucks to save money so stuff is pretty tight around the bends.
