Tire size?

I have a 1994 3500 cab chassis 4x4 with 215/85/16. I went to a dealer and he said I should put on 235/85/16 tires. Can these tires fit the rim and wheel wells? I am worried the duallies will hit each other and also effect turning. Anyone with experience with this situation.

Thanks
Rob

I can assure you that they will fit the wheel wells, as that was the size that came on my 2000 from the factory. Your '94 came with different size wheels though. I do not know for sure if you have enough backspacing for the wider tires, but I would think it should be real close if they do not fit. Maybe someone has a set off one of the new trucks they want to get rid of, if I still had mine, I would offer to sell them.

my '01 has 235's stock. Can't go much if any bigger without spacers though.

I believe in 2000 they changed the size of the wheels. They changed both the width and backspacing I think.

Checked door and nothing. I think if I had singles it would not be a problem but with dullies it may. I did a tire comparison an tire rack and says the tire will be .79" wider. So will be close. I don't wanna buy tires that won't fit. I will also ask a tire dealer if its possible.

thanks,
Rob

I have a 97 dually and had the same dilema. went to 235/85/16 dunlop a/t with no problem at all even with 8k load the duallies still have good space and 235 are cheaper than 215. Forgot to mention I have 6k on these tires and very happy with them I payed 110 each installed etc.

Check that door jamb again. The sticker should be there.

tirerack.com site might be able to pull it up via your truck info too...or the owners manual if you have it.

you've got the right idea though..duallies need some space between them with full load and air pressure.

Does say 215/85/16 for the truck. I settled on goodyear 133LT tire in that size. Thanks for the help.

you're fine with 235's, I've got the same size on the narrow wheels.. plenty of room.
