Stiff steering 97 2wd

I purchased this truck in May, it had 154k on it I have no issues w/it other than the steering seems awfully stiff turning it is difficult and now I'm getting a noise between the steering wheel and the steering column. I have greased the front end everything seems ok there, anyone know of common problems I'm not of aware w/the 2wd drives steering?

Not much to go on, but my alignment guy was telling me stories of ball joints binding up.. says they can fail both ways, just a lot more common to get loose. Sorry, not much help. Good luck.

Do a search on power steering pumps, issues, flushing, etc. One of those threads will answer your question.

Mine was doing that when it got cold, switched to synthetic fluid and good as gold now.

Could someone have put dexron trans fluid in it? If so that will make it steer real hard and wonder on the road. Drain it and refill with hydraulic fluid or power steer fluid. You may have to drain it two times to get all the dexron out and notice a big improvement.

Dexron foams way too much. I have also switched my trans fluid from dexron to TDH oil to stop foaming issues in my 47RH's.
