Steering wheel squeaks in right turns
I have been living with that frustrating right turn only rubbing noise for months. It seemed to start when my truck turned 63K. Apparently others have the same problem. I'm gonna tighten those bolts securing the steering shaft to the inside firewall, that's about all I haven't done. The local dealer just said DUH! Alignment shop said take it to the dealership. I think we're getting close to a fix thanks to the knowledge available on this web site.
Take care.
Take care.
Two things come to mind real quick,
There's a bearing in the top of the steering column just under the turn signal cam that is prone to get dirt in it. Requires removing the steering wheel and (everything under it) to get to the bearing. A clean/relube will fix the bearing squeel.
The other thing, vehicles that have speed controls on the steering wheel have three contact rings built inside the back of the steering wheel hub. Those rings contact stationary brushes in the column. When the brushes get worn they get glazed and squeel as the hub is turned.
