Is this a steal????

Location: Hidden, Ford Dealership

Price: $2500 (so he says)

Maker: Dodge

Model: 3500 Dually

Year: 1999

This truck has approx. 24x,xxx mile on it. All highway between IL and IA. Upgraded to a newer Dodge. Ford Dealership can't sell it. Am I dreaming? I am going to get a call tonight. I do not know if it is a 4x4 but there are hardly ANY 2wd Dually's out here.

What to look out for? I know about the VP44, but is there any thing else?

It has 6spd, AC. Green.

No matter which way you go about it, it would be hard not to make money on that thing. Even if it needs a VP and a few other things, drive it, part it, sell it whole. Maybe the trans. is bad? Still, 2500?? Where is this dealership? [laugh]

id say thats a typo. The truck probably books for 12,000 on the low side. If no you couldnt go wrong. The engine is worth more then 2500.00

2500superram 08-07-2007 09:06 PM

maybe it has a cracked 53 block

Pirate 08-07-2007 09:31 PM

They aren't common but could be a 3500 gasser. That would account for not being able to move it easily and the low price.

patdaly 08-07-2007 09:36 PM

Back away from the truck......very slowly. You had better let me give it a once over there buddy, where did you say it was located?

I'm more in tune with Tractor, bet its a typo, if not get it before I figure out where it is..... J/K

I asked him 2500????? Are you sure? He said if it came to them they would sell it for about $4k. He said with the miles, nobody wants it. I will try to look at it Sat.

He swears it is a diesel. That is what they are telling him.

Tell him if for whatever reason he decides not to buy it, I want to know where it is, no matter it having too many valves.

these deals come up, many times the public will not touch a high mileage truck. They had a 97 reg cab here with 300k plus on it. Went for 2500 I could not get to it fast enough. I recently paid $2000 for my '97 club cab with a rough cab and no fifth gear, 253k. It went through a public auction and no one was interested.

patdaly 08-08-2007 05:10 PM

WOW!

I think I need to start a CTD recycling center..... Of course, those same 250-300K mile trucks are going for 7-9K up here.....

dieselJon 08-09-2007 03:32 PM

"Up here"

patdaly, you are south of me [coffee] :D

What should I look for really close? VP44, 53 block, etc.

What kind of fixes are for the cracked block?

Do you guys have problems with the death wobble?

Me and my bro are talking and if I can get him to loan me some money, we will get it and turn my current truck into a sled puller and make this new truck a daily driver.

I need to check out some auctions!!! [laugh]

I think a 53 block is the only thing that might scare guys off, seems like they can last a while too if kept near stock, and if the VP is bad, oh well, 3500 for a truck as opposed to 2500. Unless there is something really wrong I don't see why a lot of us wouldn't be all over this deal. Check the trans too though, you know how expensive 5600's are.

patdaly 08-09-2007 05:17 PM

Jon, I was referring to haulin in dixies post, but heres the deal, for 2500 it really doesn't matter what the thing is, if it runs, and moves and has all the body panels in a somewhat resemblance of where they were from the factory, it is well worth 2500.

Look at it like this, 2500 would not buy you a decent 6 speed.....

dieselJon 08-09-2007 09:49 PM

I knew who you were talking to, pat, just having a little fun ;)

Now I am going to seriously look at this truck. I need a new ASAP.
