spindles-ball joint
spindles-ball joint
Im tearing down the whole front end tommorow, but after reading alot of different input im confused.
I have a 96, 4x4. Once i get the hubs, rotors all off, and i put the pickle for in to bust them loose.
Does my truck have the ball joints in the spindle? if so ill just take them into someone who has a press.
Or are they the ones in the axel where i need to press them out on my own?
thanks

Yes your 96 has the ball joints pressed into the knuckles - mine did. I feel your better off pulling the knuckle and taking them to a machine shop and have them R&R'd. A lot less frustration then attempting to press them out youself. Even with the right press, it's a PIA.
Good luck

Yep they are in the knuckle, I did mine myself, it isin't all that hard, just time comsuming. I had a shop press sitting about 20 feet from my truck at the time so I just did them, if I didn't already have the tools, I would have pulled the knuckle off and taken it to a machine shop for the press work.
