So what do I have here?

Started having the what I thought was the front driver side caliper freezing. Jacked the truck up, and found this. The wheel is crooked a little bit....do I have a froze wheel bearing assembly? Just wanted to see what others thought...luckily its home, but if its something I can't do in the driveway I gotta tow it.

See the attached picture.

BTW, I see little pieces that look like parts of a bearing that fell out. Looks like small bullets...

When mine was towed, it was wheel lifted from the front axle, so I suppose you could tear into that bad boy and still have the option of having it wheel lift towed if you need to, just make sure it is facing the right way in your driveway for the wrecker to grab it.

Then I would try to disassemble it.

Did you have this same issue? What was it? (not referring to towing, but to the picture above)

Kinda looks like the big axle nut backed off? Pop of the center cap on the wheel to check. It's big, either 1-5/16 or 1-7/16. Check the other side to make sure it's tight, as this has happened to me and it looked exactly like that. Bearing is probably toast though, as that nut kinda keeps the bearing tight together with the shaft. Jack that side of the axle up and check for play, by the looks of it you'll find some....or alot.

Bearing looks shot, looks about the same as when mine went, and I was 35 miles from home. And yeah, i would go ahead and tear into it. They'll remove the rear shaft and tow from the front more than likely, or roll back it if you need to tow. When i towed mine back, I slung it from the front. Do some searchin on here on write-ups on howto remove - its not the easiest thing to do, press fit.
