Slight sound while driving
I am going to the dealer to have some post-winter warranty work done on the Mighty Ram. Some various seals and stuff didnt make it through the winter, etc. Rear pinion seal, and a couple valve cover gaskets.

I have noticed a noise, a whoooOOOOoooo...then silence, then whoOOOOoooo. I beleive it to be coming from the rear. When driving at highway speeds. Worse in the cold. 2x4 or 4x4.

Hard to explain on the net.

I am going to have the dealer take a look at the ujoints, maybe one going bad??? 81000. What else could cause this? I am actually hoping it is just wierd tire wear.

Your thoughts?
Thanks

Re:Slight sound while driving
If there is any humming vibration associatied with the noise then I would say u-joints. But if not then I would say bearings too. Maybe the carrier bearing? I have heard them make a strange whirling noise before. Hope you find it.

Re:Slight sound while driving
the bearings in the rear of my '67 chevy II are bad and make that worring noise. Might be the same deal.
