Should I get them? 2 Dodge cummins for $1500

Here is a local ad:

1997 Dodge 3500 Service body, Cummins 12v w/5spd 2wd. 275k. Also, 1994 3\4 w/Cummins 12v auto. 235k reg cab 4wd. $1500 for both trucks.

The 94's engine went in the service truck, the service trucks crank is done I guess. Guess the injection pump, head, injectors, turbo, etc would be fine though, along with intercooler. The service body truck is inspected and drives. Thinking I do some tranny swaps, have some axles, and a bunch of parts. What do you guys think, should I do it? Money's tight NOW, but the ol lady could lend me some til I go back to sea at the end of the month

Oh yeah, is the 47rh in that 94? I think it would be a sweet swap with the transfer case into my dually. Thanks for any input.

body on 4x4 isn't really good. plus the engine is shot (just good for head, IP, turbo, intercooler, etc). Service truck is ok he said. The Service body has had a hard life, but has been patched and repaired.

I'm looking at it as an NV4500 to swap into my utilitybed, intercooler and turbo for my utility bed, spare head, P pump for the dually, 47RH for my dually, maybe a D80 for my dually, then sell the rest. I'm thinking it's worth it for the trannys alone, then I'd have a running P pumped engine to sell with the random stuff like maybe axles after.

Guess I'll have to find myself a trailer to get them then!

Great deal!!

And trust me i know good deals on CTD trucks when i see them!! ANd yes that 94 willl have a 47RH but its a weak 47Rh.....LOL.

And that 5spd truck will make a good parts truck! Swap the trans and i/c/turbo into the 89 like you said,

Then hook the old 727 to the 97 CTD, sell the 97 CTD/727 engine for good money because its a 215 motor (big p-pump.), ther other truck will just be a normal 160hp p-pump engine because its a 94 auto.

Depending on how far they are...rent a dolley from U-haul, put it behind the 97 with the 94 hooked up and drive home

I agree with the 10th grader!!

See if you can get the lady friend to drive out there with you with the car dolly behind your truck then tow one home with the other..

Yup, gotta do a trailer though... trucks too heavy for Uhauls likeing even without the engine.

And the ol' lady is 5 foot nothin. She can't see over the wheel of the truck, let alone drive it!!! I'll get a buddy to take Dad's Powerstroke down with me since the Dually is still torn apart and the Utility truck doesn't have a hitch. Would have been fun to see a 1st gen towin a 2nd gen though.

That 47RH is the weak one? Which was the good one? I plan on having a shop (or me, we'll see on gumption for that one) to fully build it for me while I'm beating the 518 still.

And I doubt anyone would want to buy a 97 with either 3.54s or 4.10s in the rear and a 727 tranny!! I"ll have to part her out.

Aren't there just mild differences like the fuel plate or whatever? I"m pretty sure it can be modified to the 500hp+ I want for the same money in the dually.

****. Just called the guy back after lining up to go tomorrow morning. He just sold them about 10 minutes ago!!! DANG IT!! I knew I should have made the 3 hour drive just to pay him, and then pick them up tomorrow. Oh well, that's what you get for hesitating....
