Sector shaft seal

Has anyone tried replacing the seal? Our 97 started leaking after I sunk the front end in some mud. It was fine before. I think the seal would fix it without repeating the problem. I will throw the DSS on when I do it.

I've got the same kit sitting on my workbench waiting for time and ambition to install it. They're pretty easy to install. Some instructions are included in the kit. Mark the pitman arm and shaft so you can get it back together the same. Pull the pitman arm, remove the snap ring, and then start the truck and turn the wheels all the way left for a couple of seconds to pop the old seals out. Lubricate the new seals with PS fluid and wrap the threads with electrical tape so you don't damage the new seals when you install them. You have to torque the nut to 185 ft-lbs. and stake it to keep it from loosening. A pitman arm puller will make the job much easier.

MAN....if i had know that you could use the hydo pressure to pop the seal out....man...that would have been TONS easier! haha....i fought and fought on a truck.....but got it done....wasnt too hard.
