Replacement dash. Which one?
 

I'm planning on replacing my dash in the near future and was wondering who has used the dashes from Geno's vs the dashes from LMC. Quality? Fit? Anything to help with my decision.

I haven't replaced mine yet, but I've read good reviews for Geno's. Reinforced mounting holes etc. I think that is the way I'll go.

Well I got a reply back from Geno's and it pretty much made up my mind which dash to go with. Reply below:

"Because we do not utilize the screws that are located at the firewall (on the dash frame metal brackets) that face towards the back of the truck, installation is much easier than installing a OEM dash. If you break your
old dash apart and remove all of the screws you will be able to install the new dash without dropping the steering column or rotating the dash. It will be tight if you remove the factory rubber trim around the a pillars and adhere it to your new dash. Doing this will give you a more finished look, but will make sliding the new dash in more difficult without rotating the dash frame forward."

Which dash is that from Geno's that doesn't require rotating the dash? I was looking at their replacement dash top (https://www.genosgarage.com/product/...rd8-2/dashtops) and the install instructions showed needing to rotate the dash away to reach the screws. I'd like to replace my dash to get rid of needing a carpet cover, but not that interested in pulling the whole dash until I have multiple reasons to do so.

The instructions do say that but a customer service rep from Geno's said there is no need to do that. Those instructions were submitted by a Dodge owner who had purchased his dash from LMC and since it was such a good detailed writeup they attached it for these dashes but it is not necessary to drop the dash frame or steering column if you break your old dash out and remove the screws. The factory dashes and possibly the replacements from LMC had screws holding the dash to the frame on the backside and are unreachable without dropping the column and frame. So, if you don't mind breaking your old dash apart then there is no need to drop the dash frame or column to install the new dash replacement

How do you attach the dash without the screws. Need to replace mine but getting to old and stiff to be crawling around under the dash

There are screws along the top of the dash by the windshield, screws on each side of the dash, and then several more screws that are accessed by removing the glovebox door and the passenger airbag. All can be done without crawling under the dash. The original dash had these mounting points along with several more that are sandwiched between the dash frame and firewall. Geno's dash replacement does not have these mounting points and rely on the easily accessed mounting locations. I used a Genos. I too am getting to old to be crawling around. I had a local repair shop install it. I don't remember the cost but it wasn't cheap. It works good and looks nice so I'm happy. The corner vents are just cut outs but you can hardly see them so ok.
