Replacement Brake Pads

I'm looking for a good set of brake pads for my 1999 2500 4x4. I'm looking for something that will give me great mileage, good braking and not expensive. Anyone have any suggestions?

Re:Replacement Brake Pads

what do u consider expensive. Ive tried many a different brake pad and u get what u pay for. and brakes are not something u want to be cheap with....try EGRbrakes not cheap but they have everything else covered. you can also try praise dyno brake.

Clutchmasters put on bendix met-locs for me. Not cheap, but not outragous. If you're using your truck as a truck...don't skimp on brakes.

Re:Replacement Brake Pads

Dont forget to check rear adjustment too. That will wear the front like crazy if they are too far out.

Re:Replacement Brake Pads

Just go with OEM pads. I've worked my truck for 230,000 km and just going to do brakes now. They checked out ok.

Re:Replacement Brake Pads

I second the EGR pads. Installed them a few months back with EGR's rotors and so far so good. Stop good, no fade and little to no dust.....

Re:Replacement Brake Pads

I went with BENDIX lifetime. Just got my second set of pads FREE No hassle with replacement, but I do not like the dust :'( No problems with braking, but I guess it depends on what you are haulin' or pullin

Re:Replacement Brake Pads

There is ONLY one name you need to know if you are EVER shopping for brake pads. That name is PORTERFIELD.

The porterfield racing brake pad company is simply cutting edge-- no one make a more advanced pad. Guess where the F1 guys and NASCAR guys and such get there brakes? Uh-Huh.

The porterfield R4-S (street) brake pad is now available for Dodge Ram HD trucks. I called them and they have them for the 4w disc trucks, as well as the front only.

I took the liberty of setting up a TDR membership discount, so If you are a TDR member also (or just don't mind telling them you are), you can get all four wheels for $158. Yes, it's pricey. Yes, they dust. No, they don't eat rotors. NO, they never fade. YES, they will yank out your teeth when you stand on it. Yes, they wear very slowly.

I put these on my Maxima and was incredibly impressed. They have unmatched heat capacity and stopping power.

Can you tell that I am a PORTERFIELD fan?????

I don't need brakes yet, but I am tempted to put them on anyway-- the difference is VERy noticeable.

Justin

Disclaimer: don't work for them, don't want to. I don't sell them either. I am just a VERy happy customer.
