Removing door panels

How do I go about removing the door panels on my 01'? the quad cab doors? I have power windows, locks, and mirrors. Any tips or suggestions are appreciated.

I haven't done the quad cab door panels, but the regular door panels are held in place by plastic christmas trees. Make sure the plastic is warm (if it cold when you are doing it, go for a ride and warm up the interior well) to avoid it easily breaking.

How I do it is with one of those trim remover tools (a few bucks at the auto parts store), and a flashlight. I gently pry the outside edge and peer in with the flashlight to find the little christmas trees, then pry them loose one by one.

Be sure to do a good visual 1st to verify no screws are holding it on anywhere and just go slow. Good luck.

Putting in some new speakers or something?

The quad doors are relly simply there are 2 screws by the handle and the rest of the panel is held in with plastic clips the handle comes with the panel and there is a cable to release once you get them off. honestly maybe 5 min a door in the rear. are you also taking of the frts ??

Go slow on the fronts with all the wiring and junk for the mirrors, etc... Same procedure though. Good luck!

Ya I treid to put one of my 6x9's in this morning. It was way too Deep . I was sorta expecting it tho. So i am going to call Crutchfield and talk to a tech and get everything I need to adapt to like a 6.5 with all of the wiring adpaters amd stuff. it will be more expensive for the speakers from them but it will come with everything. Oh and I am going to buy all new christmas tree things cuz most everyone got destroyed when gettiing the panel off. Oh well Live and learn

The plastic trees they use on these things are JUNK. that being said, at least you can get replacements from NAPA, or almost any other parts or body shop supply store.
I used Clarion 250W 3-way 6x9 in the front doors, with no depth/clearance issues, and I used Clarion 180W 6 1/2s in the rear doors. The stockers are 5 1/2s, but the clarion 6 1/2 bolts right in if you use the smaller bolt circle on the outside of the speaker frame.
Need to upgrade the head unit next, although at least its bearable with the addition of satellite radio.

Yeah the xmas trees are junk and $2 apeice from the dealer. You need 12 or 13 per panel.

Ok, the front doors were very easy to take off, but I couldn't get the rear door panels off. Just got a deep cut on my hand, those plastics are pretty sharp.

I took the 2 screws off on the rear door cups and took the cup off, but is it attached somewhere else too?

I haven't done the rears yet but it took me 6 hours to change out the front speakers. I broke the window/lock switch on the passenger side and I had to order one and put it in this morning and cut my finger once. But I am VERY pleased with new speakers in the front. My rears are coming in today and I am going to do them in the morning.
