Rear Brakes
Rear Brakes
I read in this forum that the 1 ton's larger brake shoe will fit the 3/4 ton's drum. (1998 24 valve). Can anyone confirm this?
Also I want to change out the rear brake cylinder for the Chebby 1 ton, again I have read this on this forum as a way to upgrade the rear brakes. What year Chebby cylinder do I need?

Use the Napa #4637337 cylinders. Just give them the number, they don't need to know what it goes on, just seems to just confuse them. I've talked to a few folks who have said the number crosses over at other auto parts stores.
On a service truck that weighs 15,000 pounds loaded with tools and etc put the large GM 1-ton cylinders on and what a difference. Deffinately worth it and that napa number crossed no prob at Carquest.
I did the chevy 1 ton wheel cyl. no problem, except!! when I got the wheel cylinders one was the right style, the other one was`nt. Aparently there are two styles because I called two other stores before I found the right one so be sure to check before you tear it down. The one we need has the rubber boot pressed on the inside like the dodge, some have the boot on the outside of the cyl. won`t fit.
