I think I did 135 lb. back 1/4 turn. I may have to check that again.

Did you remember what the Torque was on the 8 axle bolts? Now I'm reading they need thread locker....

I used the metal gasket over and a little silicone. No locker on the treads. I believe the bolts was about 90 lb but check it out first. I got my parts from the dealer. Ended up about 80 bucks with a new nut seal and lock.

Dam, can't get the service at the local (well almost - at 40miles each way) dodge to pick up. Infidel, do you happen to know the NAPA part numbers for the wheel seal, keeper and lock nut? Third trip to NAPA and the counter monkey's can't get it right. The trucks a 94 2500 manual. I have 13" x 3" drums with 2 1/2" shoes. And.. the outer bearing dropped out when pulling off the hub, does the tappered end go in toward the truck? Thanks.

I could help you with the keeper and lock nut...The keeper...the only darn place you could get that part is at Dodge...Stupid thing is about $15....Now the big lock nut....If you can...find a gear reseller that sells dana parts...Why I'm telling you this...I found it at NAPA....$75 each...Sourced one through parts source....$65 each...At a gear shop................$10 each...I didn't try the dealership..

Measure the spindle where the seal rides, if it is 3" then get the seal I mentioned in the other thread, if it is 2-7/8" then you have a Dana 70.

And yea, the smaller part of the bearing goes in to match the taper of the race.

Locking Wedge

I went to my local Napa and of course it isn't in the computer, or at least the parts guy couldn't find it. Luckily there was somebody there that knew what it is and where to find them.

The part number is 635-1103 and they are packaged singly. The pair of them cost me $9.38 not including tax.

Thanks for the great info. We had both wheels really rusted on. Tried soaking with JB-80 overnight, beat on them with hammers, put a bottle jack and chains on as a puller, no luck. Finally found a big puller at local rental store and it pulled them both off. None of our auto parts stores had a puller big enough. The puller is a CTA Tools 8057 3-Jaw Gear Puller 14" .
