Radio won't turn on, need help

Long story short, I replaced the own stereo with an aftermarket cheapo Walmart one a couple months ago. It worked fine.
This weekend I swapped out the cheapo with a Sony stereo. I matched the wires to what they need to be. The stereo turned on once and then never again. I thought I fried the stereo. So I borrowed my cousins pioneer which we know it works. Same result, only the pioneer didn't turn on at all.
The whole time, not a single fuse was blown in the stereos nor the cab fuse panel. In the end I also noticed that now my interior cab lights don't turn on. I haven't checked yet to see the bulbs are shot. But now I'm stumped, any ideas?

Oh, and the whole time I had power to the hot wire and acc wire. So, based on my test light(need to invest in a multimeter) there's power at the connector into the stereos.

Looks like you have a ground problem.

Take the test light and test between hot and ground wire - and between acc and ground wire.
You should have a light then. If not, check the ground or just ground the radio ground bolt on the rear and take a look if it works then.

Does it not make sound or just no lights at all. My last switch out I learned there is an amp that has to be powered also. I had to run it from the ant power lead.

Unplug the harness and with the key on see if you are getting 12V to the red and red / white wires. I also ran a supplemental ground wire on mine just because, the stock harness to chassis worked but a small piece from radio body to firewall bolt was easy enough to do.

This is the color scheme for my 99
Car Radio Constant 12v+ Wire: Red
Car Radio Switched 12v+ Wire: Red/White
Car Radio Ground Wire: Chassis
Car Radio Illumination Wire: N/A
Car Stereo Dimmer Wire: Orange/White
Car Stereo Antenna Trigger: Yellow
Car Stereo Amp Trigger Wire: N/A

Update: I got power from the harness. While trying to diagnose this weekend, I had some weird answers. I had red, orange, and yellow wires in the aftermarket harness exposed(ends with bare wire). The red touch the orange and my running lights and dash lit up. Confused the crap out of me. Out of curiosity, I touched red to yellow, my dome lights came on. My dome lights haven't turned on since the time I removed the previous stereo. Now I'm stumped, and all fuses are still good, both on the truck and in the stereos but stereos don't turn on yet.....

How did you run the supplemental ground?
