Radio antenna replacement?

The cable attaching to the antenna on my '96 has rusted away and fallen out. I can easily remove the antenna from the vechile, however removing this cable looks to be quite a chore.
It appears to route low through the rear of the engine compartment between the firewall and the dash. After STARTING to take apart the dash, itself a myriad of screws, clips and random connectors, I began to question my thinking of proceeding without a manual.

Has anyone done this? If there is a place I can go to find out info, I would appreciate knowing that as well. Any suggestions would be welcome. I've also thought of soldering the old connector back on the antenna. Any other thoughts?

Never tried it on a Dodge, but on a GMC I taped a new cable to the old and used it the pull the new one in from the cab. Easy.

On my 97, there is a connection point just to the lower right corner of the glove box behind the dash (between the glove bos and extreme left edge of the dash). I just noticed it the other day. If you lay on the pasenger floor looking up and to the left, or extreme edge of the dash from the underside you should see it. It is a simple connector like they use on antenna extension leads. It will at least save you from having to run the whole length. Good luck, kevin

Has anyone replaced thier antenna with a power on? If so you're comments would be welcome... Mine keeps losening after smacking it on a branch going about 60. .. plus I hate the way it blows around. In answer to the original question - no I have not.
