Radiatior Drain????

Hi all, I went to drain the coolant in my neighbors 99 2500 Cummins. The only drain I saw was at the lower driver side of the Radiator (correct)?.....it would only turn 1/4 way, but nothing comes out!
Am I missing something here with this drain valve?

Thanks for any suggestions.

No, thats it. These things a bad about sticking shut. Turn it back and forth while pulling a lttle bit and you will get it. But, it does drain slow. By the way, you are right. It is a quarter turn.

Remember to remove the radiatior cap to help it drain a little faster.

If I remember correctly. After the 1/4 turn, it pulls out quit a bit and will drain better.

Do yourself a favor and pick up a new O ring for it. They break easily and then leak. A torqueflite dipstick tube O ring works if you can get that easier.

Re:Radiatior Drain????

Thanks for the tips guys...I did prod the hole with a thin wire to see it there was a clog stoping flow...but nothing. I even warmed the engine as to build some pressure in the system and force out coolant...still nothing.
So you suggest to pull the valve "out" some?
I'll try that tomorrow morning.
Thanks again...Ray.

Turning it to clear the plastic threads, you can pull it all the way out, has an O ring on the end. Best to pullit and at least check the O ring.

Do you mean turn it (froce it) "past the 1/4" where it stops? Or turn it the 1/4 turn and pull it out of it's housing?
Last thing i want to do is tear up my neighbors radatior.
PS. this valve turned clockwise 1/4".

Thanks ...

Turn it the 1/4 turn counterclockwise and pull and turn, it will come out. Don't force too much but it will come out.

Re:Radiatior Drain????

Thanks for all the tips...I got the valve to flow, jacked the back of the truck up, and also removed the lower radiator hose.
