Question for those who've replaced rear speed sensor

have a 95 with rear only antilock brakes. Having trouble with the ABS system and lights. Checked the speed sensor on the diff with a meter, reading 1200. Pulled the sensor. Then I went to Napaonline and they list a sensor for my truck and have a picture. The picture looks substantially similar to the one I pulled but appears to be a long metal stem coming out of it on the diff side. The sensor I removed had no stem but did have a smooth piece of metal flush with a piece of plastic/rubber. One of the searches I did had someone talking to a tech about the stems somtime breaking off. Should there be a metal stem?

Thanks for your help

I believe that 1200-1350 ohms is acceptable for the rwss. Don't have the book handy but I know the acceptable reading is around there. Most that fail go open.

I do not believe there is a stem. I have found that with online parts they use a generic photo that may not be the actual part for the vehicle in question. If the sensor itself test out ok, quite often times it is the wiring that needs replacement.

Any good way to test the wiring? The wire that hooks into the sensor looks great (not even any nicks) back to the point where it is enclosed by the frame rail.
