Power Mirror Swap

Will 2000 heated power mirrors be a direct replacement on my '96 with non-heated power mirrors? Do I need some kind of control or switch for the heat?

thanks

Yes they will fit. But if your truck is pre-wired for P/H the connector may be different.

Also, are you talking about going from the 'mouse' ears to the Flip-out tow style? If so you will need the backer plates.

As for the heat switch, you can wire in a switch or possibly find the control panel switch form a donor truck if it was available. I am unfamiliar with the location of the heat switch on pre 98.5's.

Thanks Kurt. I'm in the process of replacing fenders, doors and box with rust-free parts I've picked up. I can buy these mirrors for $50/pr. I've got the old style chrome mirrors. The new ones look a little more up-to-date but I don't want to hack them in. Might pass on them.

IIRC the 94-02 body style panels are all interchangeable so the dooors should have the 3 holes req'd for the mounting location.

The flip out tow mirrors need the backing plates, The mouse ears do not.

Here is what I found when replacing my crome non heated power mirrors to newer mick mouse style mirrors.

Two black heated
Yellow to red
White to blue
Light blue to green
Mirror to truck

Ended up putting the heat to a lighted switch. Just have to remember to turn them off after a couple minutes as to not burn them out!

So do I just run power to one black and ground the other?

Thanks
