parasitic drain on batteries
parasitic drain on batteries
1998 24V auto. 2wd. , I have had this (very decent) truck forever. For the first 5 years I had it,..I was driving a minimum of an hour a day, but did notice that when left in the garage for 3+ days (long weekends),..it would crank slow, but still start. At some point I read that it was probably something on an accessories fuse (10 A fuze) so I just pulled the fuze and the problem went away. Been that way forever,. but I would like to put the fuze back and track down the problem (I am now in a "cold winter" area,..so I cannot have that parasitic drain..especially in winter). I just did an amp draw test. WITHOUT the fuze installed,.. the amp draw is about 70 or 80 milliamps. WITH the fuze installed,..it is right at 515 milliamps,..give or take. Which would equate to a 5 watt light bulb...........or ? I don't have an elec. diagram,..so..........other than the radio (I've always missed the clock...not the radio),.........I have no idea what's on that. Anybody got any ideas? I'm going to let the truck sit an hour and check again,..just in case "waking up something on that 10 amp fuze circuit" pulled a little power for a minute before powering back down.
I did just read that the seat belt control module pulls 500 "ish" milliamps when it is activated. (which does not explain why mine would be pulling approx. 400,.), I guess that's a start. My underhood light and glovebox lights are removed, by the way.
Since at least some of the wiring is different between 12 valves and 24 valves, please elaborate in the pink wire. What is it feeding? Is that the power supply to the seat belt module?
That seat belt locking issue after the truck sits has never worked on my truck. Windows down, truck sitting for 4 hours, seat belt pulls out like normal. What is this even for?
