Overhead console module, Security or not??

Another question for the experts at DTR
I am looking at replacing the overhead display module. All it reads now is MPG, temp and direction. The Odometer and others read all zeros. This happened a while ago when I went to reset them.
I've found the modules in a couple of places but they always list two options, with and without security.
What does that mean? Is it just that I have the key fob alarm or is there something more to it?

It probably refers to the housing.

The security version, which is a low level system, ie goes off if someone opens a door, has a red light on the bottom of it to show its activated.

There is nothing in the display showing any security info.

Thanks
That's what I figured but couldn't find a description. I'm going to wring out the wires through the CCD bus first to make sure I didn't miss anything then I'm going junkyard exploring.
