No low beams, tilt cuts out power

First of all, I have no low beams on both sides. Could it be a switch?? Next, if I tilt my steering wheel all the way up, it cuts off all power to everything inside of the truck. No ignition, interior lights. External lights still work. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like the multifunction switch for the no low beams.
You can try excersizing the switch, back and forth a couple times, to see if that cleans the contacts enough,
otherwise you'll need a new one, sorry, don't know part numbers, or if it is a Dealer only part or not.

Tilt killing everything sounds like you got shorted a little wire harness in there,
and all the way up is stretching the wires enough to break connection,
or repeated tilting has rubbed some wires insulation down enough to cause a short.

They could be related, I'm not sure if the switch wiring runs in the same harness, or close to the other wires in the wheel.

The "clockspring" wire harness has caused problems in the past. They fit it too tight at the plant and it puts too much tension on the wires with a tilt wheel. That's what happened with mine. I had to pull the column apart, repair wires and rebuild. Might be the prob.

it is more than likely a bad wire in steering colomn from useing the tilt wheel. mine is starting to act up and thebrotherinlaw has already done his once. i haven't done anything to mine yet so can't tell you how much fun it is going to be. iknow that chevy trucks are bad for this and really no fun.

There is a tsb for that (i dont know what one) A wire comes loose out of the harness in the colomn it was made to short. I work at circuit city and before we can do a remote start on that we must make sure that the repair is done or it does not need the repair. I will chime in tommorow at work with the number.

Took the cover off the column. The harness that is directly on the bottom (about 5 wires going into a plug) had a red wire that was just hanging on. At full tilt it would not touch. A couple of you nailed it on the head. Getting the soldering iron out and get it back together. Still can't find anything on the low beams. Someone said something about the multi-function switch and I would have to agree. Seems like the headlight switch simply give the multi-function power to do its thing. Any other ideas let me know. Thanks for all the help.

My low beams did this as well. The problem was in the steering column also. There was a short wire in the harness going to the multiswitch connection. When I took the cover off I did not notice it until I movede the tilt up and down and then noticed where the wire pulled out of the connector. Soldered a few more inches of wire to it and all is good now.

I just fixed this on my truck. Take the plug off of the multi switch and check. I had 1 broke off and 1 just hanging on. Also the horne was not working, it was a broken wire on the bottom conector with 5? wires going to it. This was an easy fix no more than 1/2 hour. All I did was cut the wire ties off of the column and pulled the harnes up for more slack then re-attached with wire ties.

Went into it a little last night. Had trouble seeing how to unhook the multi switch. Does it come off right where it goes into the column?? I got to thinking, maybe both lowbeams burned out at the same time...stranger things do happen, put a new bulb in and of course that was not it!!! Still got to figure out this whole brake/abs light staying on issue also....
