Hi all, posting about my '01 2500. I drove the truck a short distance and found I have a left front caliper hanging up. The truck only has 42,000 original miles on it so it doesn't get driven much. When it is out its never in inclement weather and is stored indefinitely for winter. Wondering if there's a way to free it if the caliper is the culprit. I've heard the rubber brake hoses are known to deteriorate from the inside out so I suppose that could be another possibility. If anyone has any input please share. Thanks

I had the right hang up. Try the simple first. Take the caliper loose and clean up the slides with a flat file. Then lightly coat the slides with high temp anti seize. If the seal around either piston if cooked, either rebuild or replace the caliper. If the seal is cooked, then the oring under it is cooked too.

At this age the problem you describe is often caused by deterioration of the rubber brake hose.
The inside rubber flakes off and acts like a one way valve, keeping pressure on the caliper.

The test is easy- open the bleeder of the caliper where you suspect the problem, if the caliper releases you know it's time for a new brake hose.
