newer truck possiblity

Well the Parents are lookin to get a new truck, currently they have the 99 24v 2500 4x4. All we pull with it is a snowmobile trailer and a 5thwheel. Truck provided more than enough, but they are considering a dually. Extra stability and everything. But they dont want to lose there 19's and 20's mpg. What would be an expected mileage wit ha 24v 4x4 3500 ext cab?

I had a 99 2500 and my mpg's averaged 16. I now have a 2002 3500 drw and the mpg's are 14. The 99 was a auto and the 2002 6 speed. Hope this helps.

The dually has a lot more stability and is a lot safer for towing the fifth wheel - but MPG will be less - due to more weight and rolling resistance. Its a tradeoff dually milage should be 2-3 mpg less.

Re:newer truck possiblity

My truck is a 02 2wd DRW 5 speed that I drive empty to and from work which is about 475 miles aweek and I avg. 20.5mpg and the math is done by hand. Now I had 01 4wd DRW auto and the best I ever got was 17mpg and that was only one tank and all highway, it avg. around 16.2mpg. thats why I traded for the 02 2wd.I hope this helps because there is abig diff. in mpg between a 4x4 and a 2wd truck.
