Newer Dash Swap

I have a friend who was at a small dyno in Midland, TX awhile back and he saw a guy with a 2nd gen with a interior dash out of a 2008. My whole dash on my truck is like shot, my switches and controls barely are supported and I saw a dash on craigslist for 40 bucks. I waas wondering if anyone has experienced this of even heard of it.

They switched to the updated dash in 98. It's still a second gen. I have no idea if the newer dash will fit in the 97 and down trucks.

I just switched my dash to a new (second gen) factory dash. I am very hopeful because the new dash looks significantly stronger inside than my old one. Hopefully I'm not crazy because I love the look of my new dash!

Did you get a complete dash out of a wrecked truck, or buy all the parts new?

All I needed was the dash and the two gaskets, one for each end of the dash where the "A" pillar meets the dash. I bought it all at the Dodge dealer. As I recall the little gaskets for the ends were about $70.00 for the pair! Ouch! Sure looks great though. STILL having a tough time sitting down though after the wallet abuse I got there!
