Talking New (to Me) Diesel

Just got my 2001 QC 4x4 diesel yesterday. I'm in Buffalo, NY and bought it in SC. All I can say is WOW! This thing is awesome. Drives great and sounds cool too. Its an auto with 3.55 gears. Any idea what I can expect for mileage? I'm hoping around 20, just putting down the highway with no trailer.

Welcome to the website!

You made a good choice buying your 2001 Dodge CTD!
FYI,....my 2002 got around 19-20 MPG when it was bone
stock. I have since added a bunch of "performance upgrades"
and I now only get around 17.5 MPG.

Anyway,...good luck with your new truck!

Congrats on the new truck. Your mileage will vary greatly depending on where you live and how you drive. I am light on the pedal but live in a hilly area and only have a 12 mile commute to work. I average 14 mpg around here. I average 10 mpg pulling my 29' fifth wheel camper on the interstate at about 70 mph. I have never had the truck on an unloaded trip long enough to establish mileage with highway driving. Regardless of your mileage, that truck will keep you smiling from ear to ear.

My truck has a 3.54 rear. I average 18 to 23 in the flat land but I try to keep my foot out of it.

Thanks for the "welcomes" I'll pass on the pop corn, and I don't drink coffee, But I will take some of those delicious mints on the table if you don't mind.

I am looking at purchasing a 1997 2500 CTD 4x4 auto, ext cab, long bed. I am not sure of any more specifics than that at the current time. I am looking for any input anyone may have about it, including the fuel usage that i can expect, if possible.

Durasmack,

I just bought a 97 on the 30th of June extra cab w/ 8' bed 2500 and 45k miles. Anyway it has been in the shop now for about a week getting the fuel sending unit fixed. As soon as it is out of the shop I'll let you know what I'm getting on the mpg. But the avg. stock 2500 diesel gets about 20mpg from reading this forum the past couple days.
