I need new tires and wonder what you think of yours.

265/75/r16 needed for my 2 gen 2500.

What about the dealers? I am in Rockford IL. I have considered Discount Tire,
Sears, thats about it.

Toyo Open Country here- same size. Really cut down on wheel spin on slow corners upping to 265's- load E available and snow rated. I plow with them and as long as you keep them wearing even to keep the siping in the centers they have great traction.
wore out a set in 25K miles, they replaced and I'm about 25K now on the replacements- gotta remember to drop the rear pressure tho, I keep wearing the centers out!

Price them online (like at TireRack.com) and then have your local shop price match them. I am very happy with my Yokohama Geolandars....

A friend just got a screamin deal on Michelins at Sears. I don't know if they are still on sale though.

I talked to my tire man and got some leftover stock from some of his other clients. He got me some Firestone Teeltex AT s for the rear and Transforce HT s for the front. I have about $300 in all 4. Can't beat that with a stick.

I bought some Pro Comp All Terrains 285/75/16 at 4 Wheel Parts Performance recommended by a buddy. What a mistake! Came with a 50,000 mile warranty, but the rubber seems very soft and wore out fast. I should have spent the extra and got the BF Goodrich All Terrains that were previously on my truck. I spent way too much at around $1000 mounted and balanced and me keeping my old tires.

If you run on the highway most of the time and not off road the best tire I've used is the Michelin LTX M/S E-rated. I got 80k out of my factory set. They are pricey though. My second set were good years and they wore like crap. I have Coopers right now and they seem to be doing good but my next set will be the Michelins again. I had discount tire put my last set on, they had me in and out the door in about an hour. Their prices aren't too bad either.

I had over 60k on some Cooper Discoverer ATR's on my old dually and they still passed the latest state inspection. Granted they were always on the rear, only rotated from side to side on the rear, and never saw a heavy load...I was very impressed with them as they rode very well, and were fine in the rain, sleet, and occaisonal mud at the ranch.

I just bought two 245/75/16 Load Range E Firestone Transforce HT's at Firestone just last week. These were installed on my "new to me" 94 RCLB 2500 2wd up front to replace the worn & rotted tires that were on it. I needed an alignment and state inspection (front tires wouldn't pass inspection), so I got everything at once. I was going to run a more agressive tire up front, because the rears are Nitto Terra Grapplers and they look good, but I have heard bad things about them. I asked for the Transforce AT tires, but they installed the HT's by accident. When I noticed, they said they'd knock the price difference off, as well as an additional $20 off, and I could try them out for 30 days, and if I didn't like them, I could swap them out for the Transforce AT's for free of charge. It was an hour before closing time and they still had an alignment and inspection to do on the truck, I didn't want to have to go back the next day so I left the HT's on there. So far, they are very smooth tires and feel real nice. I'll give them a try, and might possibly swap them to the AT's in a few weeks.

I had originally planned on a set of 4 Hankook Dynapro ATm RF10's in 265/75/16. I found them at Discount Tire, but they never replied to my price match request, so they didn't get my business.

You should love the Duelers, not great off road, but I have run them on several trucks, and I used to work at a Firestone Dealer and NEVER had any complaints about them...

You can buy anything that you want. People usually have opinions that match what they decided to do UNLESS it was a huge mistake. I jumped on Tire Rack, looked at the reviews then picked Geolanders. At 80# of pressure, they wandered all over the road. At 65# they have been great - they only take a small weight to balance and appear to be holding up well (approx 20,000 mi & no bad or uneven wear.) Regardless of what tires you decide on, be aware that Discount Tire PRICE MATCHES all competitors - even web competitors. Find the tire you want. Find the best price. Print price proof & take it to discount. Add install + tax & you're out the door. Lifetime balance (I go every time I change the oil). Now on to the next item.
