Multi-Function Switch Bad?

I've had a unsettling problem, off and on for awhile now. Every once in a while I'll pull back the multi-function switch to go to bright lights, and the headlights go OUT. The dash lights stay lit, but headlights are MIA. If I pull back on the multi-function switch a few times they come back on again. Tonight it happened again, and to test I pushed the headlight switch in and pulled it out a few times to no effect. But when I pulled the m-f switch back a few times, the headlights came back on. Has anyone had this happen? Are new multi-function switches available without paying an arm and leg? Is that even my problem?

I'm having that happening on my 2000 truck. From what I've read it's a common problem where the switch contacts get dirty or corroded.

I tried taking my switch out to clean the contacts, but I can't figure out how to get the stupid thing out.

I've always been able to fix them by spraying electrical contact cleaner at the base of the arm while working the switch back and forth.
Disconnect batteries first unless you like fire.

This switch is not one to be gentle with or use rarely because it will start to act up. Use it all the time and be assertive when using it and it should stop giving issues. That doesn't mean beat on it so dont break whats not broke either. If its faulty then it may just need to be replaced.

I'm running dual relays to my Sport Headlights, so as to take the amps off of the main light switch--I assume this also helps the M-F switch. I use it, but not real often.
