Instructions for removing dash

Does anyone know of a manual that explains how to remove the dash. I would like a manual with photos. Does anyone know how to remove the top pad?

This is a good question. It comes apart pretty easily in the beginning by first carefully prying the dash bezel off of its clips, then you remove the (many) screws that secure the dash and there are two near impossible screws to deal with located on each end of the dash near the door pillars. Now you get to the area around the passenger airbag I have never ventured beyond that point because I couldn't figure that part out. But don't forget to disconnect both batteries before you begin or you will have a first hand experience with the speed in which an air bag deploys. I'll bet they are expensive to replace. I will follow this thread in the hopes that I can learn the part about removal around passenger airbag. Maybe then I'll buy a replacement dash

The service manual explains it fairly well but does not have pictures. When I fixed my dash I used this thread. https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...t=dash+removal
It was a big help. Many thanks to the author.

Be sure and buy new clips for the firewall (the dash screws into these). Mine were brittle and I broke 3 out of the 5 when replacing my dash. My truck was down for 3 extra days waiting for the new clips to come in.
