Hood Insulation

Maybe a dumb question, but why is there no hood insulation on 2002 CTD? Would't this make it somewhat more quiet....or is that the reason its not there? [laugh]

Greed. If you're interested in a hood blanket, click here for a much better and effective product.

Re:Hood Insulation

Well I tried finding this from local junk yards, seems no hoods are available to steal it from. So, I called the local 5 star parts department, here are the results:

Underhood liner - 5535-0404AC $50
retainers (qty 15 needed) - 6003-351 $3/ea - $45 total

Liner seems reasonable, clips are the standard ridiculous price. I am going to try NAPA or AutoZone for the clips. I will post pics if I decide to buy.

Thanks for all the input.

My 94 has two grab handles on the roof for passenger. These can be added to the new trucks as the bosses are there.
Michael

Re:Hood Insulation

Here some food for thought, The insulated liners are on all gas powered veihicles act as a blanket to smother engine fires {gasoline} The plastic tabs that hold it to the hood melt under heat to release it to drop it on the engine !!!! smothers the fire!!!!
