HO pump on SO engine?

Believe the VP44 and ECM are calibrated differently on HO engines. So one without the other is a no no. There may be some hardware differences that are not easily noticed. JMHO

You can run one. But why? The SO pump actually has larger plungers and is better suited from a performance standpoint. Itll flow more fuel. Lots of HO guys put the SO pump on their trucks

I have always read the way I posted. I dont know why anyone would want to do it for the reasons you posted unless they got it cheap and needed to use it in a pinch, but I am 98% sure it wont work due to programming differences.

A HO pump on a SO truck will work and it will run fine. It will actually run a little better on a completely stock truck. I have a friend that has a HO pump on his 00 SO truck. It actually woke his truck up a bit. Now, his truck is pretty much stock (straight pipe), I don't know what will happen if you start modifying the truck. My guess is the pump won't be able to keep up with the fuel demand of boxes and injectors. If you got a stock truck go ahead. If you got it dirt cheap, awesome. If you plan on modding the truck more, I'd say throw another SO pump on it.

You never heard of guys putting an SO pump on an HO for more fuel? I dont know the exact size difference, but some guys post wondering if they need a HRVP or Monster pump, but for their mods an SO swap would be better. Just what Ive read, I dont have a VP truck (yet)

Not to give you a hard time or anything, but people do put HO pumps on SO trucks to achieve better fuel mileage. Contact Tim Barber or David Dunbar to learn of their results.
