Blower motor resistor. Under dash on passenger side. One screw is easy to get to, the other you will have to roll the carpet back and butcher the pad for easier access.

Our 95 gasser at work did the same thing. Replaced the resistor. It worked fine a few days then burned it out again. Blower motor pulling to much juice. Replaced motor and resistor . Running fine now.

If it burnt up the resistor make sure you check the wire terminals and replace the burnt ones. Otherwise it will burn up the new resistor from bad terms overheating and burn up again.

You can pull out the resistor and take a look at it. Sometimes they can be "repaired", but that is your call. It's easy to get out. Disreguard my above post, I was thinking of the mode door motor location, not the resistor. Resistor is EASY.

Mine did the same thing but the blower squeeled once so it drew too much juice. I am hoping that the 98 Dakota stuff will be the same. I have them.
