Headlight removal??

I have a 2001 2500 that I would like to take the headlights out of. I work for the local ambulance service, and would like to put strobes in the lights. I have looked and looked at the things, and can see the three bolts that hold the assembly in, but can't figure out how to pull that last bolt or whatever it is out.

Any ideas?? Is there an easier way???

Three bolts and the rubber gap sealer and out they come. ratchet, extension and u-joint. That's all I use when changing bulbs.

Got the three bolts...what I am having trouble with is the nut or bolt or whatever it is behind the marker lamp. Does that just pull out? And does it pop back in?

If your truck's not a Sport, here's how the FSM says to remove it:

HEADLAMP UNIT
REMOVAL
(1) Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
(2) Remove push-in fastener attaching seal to radiator closure panel.
(3) Remove park and turn signal lamp.
(4) Remove screws attaching top of headlamp module to radiator closure panel (Fig. 18).
(5) From behind front bumper, remove screws attaching bottom of headlamp module to radiator closure panel.
(6) From behind the bumper, loosen the bumper mounting nuts to allow the bumper to lower for clearance. This is only necessary on the side to be removed.
(7) Separate headlamp module from radiator closure panel.
(8) Disengage wire connector from headlamp bulb(s) (Fig. 19).
(9) Separate headlamp module from vehicle.

On my '99, yes it just pulls out .
I don't know if its the same, but I had a heck of a time
getting the whole assembly out .
Fits really tight scratched the bumper plastic and
scratched the paint on the adjustment screw wedging it out .
maybe my bumpers adjusted to high I don't know.
Hope you have better luck than I did [yuk]

I just had both of mine out a few days ago. Remove the 3 screws and the gasket thing. Then just pull it out. It feels like there is another bolt holding it in there but it is just a stud that fits into a clip. You just need to pull straight out. When you have it out you will see what i mean. Mines a 99 NOT a sport.

It is the same on the 2001 as above post stated. I replaced mine recently after a deer mishap. Pull straight out after removing the three bolts.

Thanks all...

Got them both out to where I could drill the holes in them for the strobes. Now if I can just finish getting the strobes wired up!

Thanks again...it never ceases to amaze me what a good resource this board is.
