Headlight Bulb Upgrade.............
So with the sun going down an hour earlier now I realize just how crappy the stock headlight output is. My buddy was telling me about the Sylvania Silver Star Ultra (9004SU) replacement bulbs.

I'm going to pick up a set of these and adjust the headlights too. Anyone else using these?

If your'e going to drop the coin for a set of SilverStars, get the 9007 Bulb. The 9004 are 700 Lumens on low beam and 1200 Lumens on high. Max watts 50/70
9007 fit in the same socket (with a bit of modification) and are 1000 Lumens on low and 1350 on high beams. Max watts 60/70. A free 300 lumens on low beam and an extra 150 on high, right?
Research it on 'Google' before you spend any money. Type in "9004 to 9007 Headlight Upgrade".
I was mad I only found out about it last year. I drove around with those stupid headlights for years, until I upgraded. Did it on my Grand Cherokee and my snowplow as well, it works so good.

Is the "upgrade" to 9007's that much better.
I'm actually happy with the Silverstar 9004's in my truck but could always use something better. Everything helps when it comes to 2nd Gen headlights.
I'm going to do some searching right now.

Works so well I'm going to do a Sport Headlight Lens conversion and play with some dual burn set ups.

The best headlight mod I've found so far has been the relays under the hood. The Silverstars are brighter. I have one in my motorcycle. I did some internet research, and the only bad thing said about them was they don't last as long as a regular bulb. I can't verify that yet as I've only had it in my bike for 9 months.

Wherever there is a 9004 bulb, you can put a modified 9007 bulb in it's place. The modification is switching the wires around and filing some of the plastic tabs a bit to fit in your lens assembly.
To be fair, I did do all three upgrades at the same time. The relays, the 9007 bulbs, which are a set of SilverStars. The improvment in light output was stupid. When I backed out of my driveway, the headlights shine on my neighbors house. She comes running out thinking the police had come. Driving at night is great.
I get out of my truck to see if anything is getting hot or melting, that much light has to be hotter, right? But it's not hot at all. I love it.

There is a BOMB for anyone with 9006 fog light bulb, too. A 9005 bulb, again with a bit of tweaking, will fit into the 9006 socket. Turning your fog lights into driving lights.
It's a tiny little harness adapter called 'Bulbzilla', but you can save the money and do it yourself, too. Google 'Bulbzilla' and read up. I'm gonna do the GFs Durango.

Do your research FIRST! It's really easy. I had to trim my bulbs around the shoulder by the O-ring to get a nice fit on my Grand Cherokee, quite simple.
Then you have to switch your wires around and make sure you trim the plastic tab only as much to get it to fit, NOT all the way off.
'Google' it and read up. If you don't like it, (Yeah, right) you can always switch it back to stock. No permanent damage is done.
