Getting ready to paint! need color ideas...

I am going to have a local shop repaint my truck.

We are going to replace or repair bottom of doors that have slight rot.

I am taking the bed off and instead of spending money repainting it,I am buying a new Cadet Western flat-bed body. This will be more pratical for me anyway.

This is a 2500 single wheel, anyone know where to find dual wheel rims?

I am going to go with one color and eliminate the lower body molding rubber strip. I am also thinking of using the '05 "Cummins" badges from genos.

So far I like the PR4 Flame red.

anyone know where to find paint codes online?

How about that sweet metallic blue or whatever it's called? By far my favorite color for Dodge's.

I'm in the same boat, gonna take mine in next month for a paint job and i am trying to figure out colour(s) as well.I was thinking about going with a black cherry instead of the current black and grey. Oh well lots of time yet i guess.

Maybe this site will help with the colors: http://www.tcpglobal.com/autocolorlibrary/

Some advice for what it is worth. Get a standard color, don't get an exotic blend, that will be difficult to duplicate.

Make sure the paint shop knows what is on the truck, and the paint that is being applied is compatable, some paints can lift or soften the old finish.

Key to a good looking paint job is the prep work that goes into the paint job.
Scratches and nicks filled and sanded, good smooth old finish to paint. Minimum wet sand with 600 grit or finer.

When you get it done, post some pix

I like that idea. My truck is going to need a repaint in a couple of years and a black cherry would be a great idea to cover the current black paint.... Thanks

I'm thinking of going timberline green (third gen lighter green) and silver two tone when I get mine done.

I've always been a flame red or black fan though.

I like the Dark Mineral Grey, the dark metallic blue, black, and flame red.

Almost any dark red with a candy coat gets my vote. I've been thinking when I have to get mine painted(doors going bad too), I'd like to work something up that uses either the stock 97 red metallic pearl coat(that's what it is now) or a candy apple red. Then do something with that new cream color I'm seeing on the new Rams to give that little extra something. I think that would make a nice combination.

It's going in next week. anyone have the paint code for the dark cherry?

Red3quarter 11-06-2007 08:37 PM

I like Flame Red and a close second is the Electric Blue.

dont forget to do it right, you must do the jams, pilliars and under hood so everything matches. it may cost you a small fortune. i work for a body shop and see people doing this a lot untill they really see how much it costs.

TIMMY22 11-06-2007 09:00 PM

That is why I decided to go with the Cadet western body. It's another $1000
to prep and paint the bed that may rust again in a few years.

I then have to then deal with the fuel fill, ICC bar, Lights and mud flaps.
