Gauges

Not sure if this should be in with the engines but here goes, I have had an aftermarket fuel pressure gauge from Genos, install was easy, works great, has already saved me three times on bad NAPA lift pumps, however, I have again started to have wildly erratic readings of very high pressures (sometimes) never below the nominal 10 psi I was seeing. this is the second time the sending unit has apparently failed in the 14 months I've had it installed. Yes I did install the 'snubber' with the second sending unit about 6-8 months ago.

It seems to me that the sending unit life should be significantly longer than 8 months plus or minus, what am I doing wrong in the install to get such poor service life? Have i misdiagnosed the culprit and it's not the sending unit? the first time it did this replacing the sender returned the gauge to it's normal usefulness so I am assuming that it's the same problem

thanks

That's the problem with electric fuel pressure gauges, the senders don't last.
Many times they fail in a way where they lie to you, you can go for months with low pressure and not know it
Get a mechanical gauge without an isolator or get used to replacing senders.

Thanks infidel, I am planning to do just that and keep it under the hood to confirm the in cab gauge periodically.

meanwhile, I stopped and actually thought about what I was seeing and dug out the DVM to check the sender case ground, it was NFG, so I cleaned things up, installed an external star type lockwasher between the sender and the bracket. Resistance to ground is now virtually nil to the bracket and between the bracket to the battery (-) terminal (0.04ohms). the gauge appears to be working correctly once more. My new mechanical gauge will confirm the electrical gauge reading, or not....
