fuel guage and brake drums

My fuel guage is slammed at the full level and not coming down. I just filled up and have put about 50 miles on the tank. Fuel guage still shows full. Any ideas.

I also am looking to get a set of rear drums and wonder where to look and what price to expect. I checked at tirerack where most recomend buying rotors but they have no drums. Any ideas?

Thanx...

I would imagine that it is on full because you are getting good mileage.... drive it a few more miles and then see what happens.

My fuel gage stays at or near the top for 100 miles. When it reads empty I have 10 gallons left. Did your gage move on your last tankfull?

Don't know about rear drums. Still on the original shoes and drums. Replaced the original front pads at 60K miles. Not necessary to turn or replace drums or rotors just because they are not flat. If they work well otherwise, just replace the frictions.

After the fuel level comes down a little kick or beat on the tank with a rubber mallet, that should get it.
To prevent it in future only fill up to the second automatic pump shutoff.

Tire rack's website doesn't always say everything they have, suggest you give them a call

So maybe the float is stuck in the tank? Strange thing is yes last time I filled up, by the time I got 50 miles the guage had come down some. this time it is pegged at full. I'll try the mallet thing if it stays stuck.

As for the drums, I'll call tirerack and see what they have. A buddy of mine told me to get them turned. I may, but felt like they would just warp again since they will be thinner. Must admit those were the hugest drums I had ever seen. Maybe turning them would be ok.

Mine is the same way... I've got to go about 100-125 miles to get the gauge to move from full. Then when I hit the warning light at 1/8 of a tank I've got 12 gallons left!

As for the drums clueless...

I have a 95 and have had fuel gauge issues as well...except mine are the other way. I have read that there is a TSB out on the fuel gauge sending unit and that may be the issue. In the interim, I've been using my trip odometer as my fuel gauge!!

I fill up and drive 3 blocks and it reads 3/4 tank. I set the trip ODO and have received a LOW FUEL indicator light at 151 miles. I usually fill up every 300 miles just to be safe, but only take around 13 gallons when I do.

As for rear brakes...I'll be right back with a part number. I've been advised to get the larger GM cylinders and the cheapest shoes you can get. These will do the trick for bigger loads.

Posting soon,

Rambob

Orignally posted by INFIDEL (you can look him up in the member directory)

"Get the cylinders from Napa, #4637337
You can even order online by clicking here

The cheapest rear shoes you can find are best."

Hope it helps. Good Luck.

Fuel gauge problems

I realize this is an old thread, but I wondered if you found out what was wrong with the fuel gauge? I recently was on the way to refuel and ran out of fuel with the gauge showing 1/4 full. I have since been filling it up and using the odometer to tell me when I am running low. It stays on full for a long time and 350 miles later it says I have 3/4 of a tank left.

I had the mechanic check the float in the tank. He said to run Marvel Mystery Oil through it to get it to stop sticking. I have done this with two tanks and see no improvement.

There is another thread about sticking. It actually a bad pivot in the fuel sender. Som have remove the stock pivot and replace them with other materials like aluminum pins / bolts. I've seen on when he added a spring to keep the contacts tight on the sender...

Two choices...

1. Fix you sender yourself...

2.Order a Replacement from a Dodge Dealer...
