Fuel gauge misreading
Fuel gauge misreading
For the last few weeks, I have noticed that I have gotten excellent fuel mileage. One week I was at 325 at half a tank, then I was at 385 the next tank. Now, I am at 425 at half a tank. This doesn't seem right. I also noticed that when I filled up last at 1/8th of a tank, I topped off at 32.5 gallons on a 35 gallon tank. I use PS in my fuel and Fleetguard fuel fiters, but I don't think this is normal. Could it be the float, or could the fuel sender unit be going out? The gauge moves, it just seems REAL slow.
I have filled up at Wal-Mart and some truck stops and they both have pretty stout pumps. Which is better to go at it: lifting the bed or dropping the tank and how much do these run at?
Inless you have ran your tank pretty dry it would be easier to lift the bed up. Be sure and secure it well before working under it. I can't remember the cost of the sending unit but it didn't seem to be to pricey through Napa.
If you plan on dropping the tank just a few gallons of fuel can make that tank shift pretty quick, be careful if you go that route.

Easy to lift the bed. Just take out the bed bolts and lift or jack it up. I just loosened the 2 towards the rear and left them in place. Then just lifted the front of the bed about a foot
