Front end rebuild

Merry Christmas everyone. I'm looking at rebuilding my front end when i get back from deployment next month. before I left six months ago the truck was not any fun to drive, steering wheel wold be either at about the 10 or 2 position depending on the crown of the road and which lane I'm in. I figure replace the ball joints with XRF's. Put in a Borgeson steering gear and shaft or maybe a redhead steering gear.

The sway bar links, the control arm bushings, and the tierods, but not sure which bands to go with and looking for inputs.

Looked at the XRF site and saw that they have what is suppose to be beefed up tierods, has anyone used them?

Need to get this done since I'm relocating from WA to MD within amonth of getting back home.

Hope everyone has a Happy Holiday Season.

Floyd,

Thanks and it has been an honor to serve our country. I like the setup that they were doing in the link you sent and think that I'm going to give it a try.

2wd

I rebuilt my 2wd with XRF stuff and was happy with it. The ball joints and tie rods were no big deal, but putting the bushings in were a MAJOR pain. I will never do that again, all of that work gets taken to the machine shop the next time.
I know you most likely do not have a 2wd but beware the bushings anyway!

A DSS and a borgeson shaft may help too. Also, check your steering box for excessive play at the output shaft.

Don't forget to get a good alignment too!

Thank You for your service. You guys are the best!

This really IS a good way to go. Gets the drag link back in line with the track bar, and puts a real centerlink back into the configuration. OEM parts availability also. If ya got 17" rims....putting 2003-2009 brakes on this truck is a good thing to do also.....
