front end "loose"

I've got a loose or clunking feeling in my front end, especially when I step on the brakes going down hill. I feel it through the steering wheel. The track bar shows no movement, the control arms are tight, and the tie rod ends seem to be OK. The truck steers well on the road and brakes well. It's an '02 2500. Appreciate any suggestions.

Re:front end "loose"

I've seen or read about the following being possible causes the cluncking problem you describe:

1) Loose shock absorber bolts - common
2) Worn factory shocks
3) Worn stabilizer bar end links
4) Loose intermediate steering shaft couplings
5) Loose intermediate shaft slip joint

Do a search for this issue you'll find more.
