Did some wrenching on the Beast!
hey all! My truck is 11years old, 180,000kms. Swapped out the OEM factory shocks for Gabriel Ultra's in the front and Gabriel coil over shock load carriers in the rear. Upgraded the rear wheel brake cyls to the GM 1 ton style. WOW, what a difference in ride and stopping power! Very sweet on both fronts. Next up is the new serpentine belt ,Timbrens for the suspension, and a few other spring cleaning issues. Just happy to be alive!

I think spring fever was in the air. I have terrible DW on my trail rig which is a Jeep ZJ and spent the day replacing control arms, and upgrading the steering and tie-rods.

I have to say that I am very impressed with the much improved braking action coming from the back end of the truck. I can really feel the difference/improvement in braking. I set up the brakes however they didn't require any tweaking of the star wheels - they were already just at the point of friction with the brake hub,
The new shocks have made a fantastic improvement in the ride and handling of the Beast. Money and time well spent on both of these efforts. Gotta get that new serpentine belt installed, the Timbrens go on next weekend when I install the 5'r hitch. Cheers All! Mike |
