dead gauges
Hey
My factory gauge panel on my truck has been intermittenly going out. Typically the airbag and abs lights go on and ding, then the gauges fail and the odometer says no bus. The overhead works as far as i know (for sure the direction/temp). I tried the gauge test where you hold the odometer button while turning on keys and got "chec" to come on and a few of the dash lights. THe gauges didn't cycle like they usually did and it had codes in the odometer spot starting with 900 and going up to 999 in varying increments. This is what happens when the gauges arent' working. The lights that are on when it is going haywire are MIL, airbag, abs, brake, low fuel and i think thats all.
When they do work, i usually have air bag and brake lights on which i believe is concerning a bad speed sensor on the rear end. . .
Any advise would be appreciated, its difficult to tell speed as well as fuel level which led to me running out the other day on my roadtrip. Thanks

Well it happened thursday and friday i was leaving on a trip through sunday with my truck so i took it apart and blew out any dust and put the gauge panel back in, also checked the white plug connector on the steering column and it seemed well attatched.
Yesterday i found my Water in fuel sensor was unplugged but doubt that had any effect on the gauges going haywire. It hasn't happened since I got home though. So maybe.
The other thing is concerning the ABS light and the emergency brake light that are on constantly, would those have any effect on the dash going coo coo??

I don't remember the wiring diagram and can't look it up right now, but I do remember that if your emer brake pedal is drooping and making the sw it will cause the brake and ABS lites to come on also it stops some other things from working. I just can't remember exactly which ones. If it is drooping just tie it up with a bungy cord and see if it fixes the problem.
