dash lights no workie?????

Dash lights went out on my 97 , any ideas before I start throwing money at it useing the process of elemination. They won't take back elect. parts so any ideas before I buy new switch etc...

did you check the fuses?

Dr. Evil 03-28-2007 06:51 PM

A good sparky would be able to figure this out...[laugh] Sorry, caper just had to.

Have you metered the switch?

caper 03-28-2007 07:45 PM

Very funny Evil lol. could probbly figure it out but would need 6000km test leads for meter because thats where the truck is. The old man is useing truck and I'm trying to quaterback the play from over the phone lol. Dealer there wants $125 for new switch , that will hurt if it aint the prob. Everything else on the switch works cargo light etc... except the dash lights. Its not the fuse any other guesses. BTW Evil I'm buying an RED 98.5 12v 5 SP QC LB 4x4,loaded, leather this week , I think you have the same truck , That makes 3 for me now , not crazy eh.

Uh, I see....

Do the parking lights work? If they don't then I would imagine it to be a bad headlight switch. You can get a cheaper replacement at any auto parts chain store.

I had the exact same problem, no dash lights, but the headlights and dome light would work. I replaced the switch with a E-Bay special, no difference. It turned out that the connectors in the fuse box were loose, the fuse was Ok.
